Creating balance between work and personal life is a vital component of achieving a healthy wellbeing, lifestyle and escape from your daily routine. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the happy medium between spending too much time in work mode or too much time in relaxation mode. Either way, taking time out of you working day to support both physical and mental health is necessary in ensuring you are looking after your mind and body and being the most productive version of yourself.

One way to clear your mind is by taking a walk. Being cooped up inside for the majority of the day or sitting down and staring at a computer screen for hours on end affects posture, working memory and cognition. By simply going for a walk, your mind is able to relax and momentarily focus on something other than work. You’ll get back to your desk feeling fresh and revitalised.

Alternatively, yoga and meditation are both highly effective ways of clearing the mind and bringing you focus to the present, alleviating feelings of stress and anxiousness. The beauty of these activities is that they can be done in as little as 2 minutes and can be performed anywhere; even at your desk.

Reading your favourite book or magazine or catching up with friends are other strategies in shifting your focus from work to something highly enjoyable, to lift your mood and in turn result in higher work efficiency and productivity.

By simply using one of these strategies to escape your daily routine, you will quickly notice a more productive and positive version of yourself!
